Writing Process
A senior associate pitched me with the idea of writing an article about Casey’s involvement in the Investing in America Child Care Partnership in collaboration with ten other major foundations. It was jointly announced by foundation leaders at the Department of Commerce National Child Care Innovation Summit.
To prepare to write the article, I read press releases from the other partnerships, watched the announcement and interview from the Summit, and read and analyzed the initial brief written by senior associates for the president and senior leadership of the Foundation about the Partnership. In addition to the text, I drafted quotes from senior leadership to be reviewed.
After submitting my initial draft for review, I collaborated with numerous members of the Foundation in the editing and publishing stages. I submitted the drafted quotes to communications liaisons and worked with members of the policy team on refining my description of the Partnership to be clearer for public audiences with limited jargon.
After review by other members of the communications team leading our webstie design and engagement, I helped select the final photo and framing of the article on the website.
